Centane police appeal for leads after another woman killed coming from traditional ceremony

Centane police have appealed to the public to assist them with information that can help them in their investigations after the body of a 56-year-old woman was found by community members.

"It is alleged that the woman had a attended a traditional ceremony on Wednesday, at Thafeni Locality, Godidi Village, Centane," said police spokesperson, Captain jackson Manatha.

"When it became dark, her husband became worried and phoned the wife to come home. She never arrived at her home.

"A search by the community members and Centane police was started on Thursday. She was found with upper body injuries in a bushy area in the early hours of Thursday."

Capt Manatha said that no one has been arrested so far for the crime, but Centane police detectives are working around the clock tracing the suspect/s.

"Anyone who can assist Centane Police is urged to contact them at 047 498 5400 or Crime Stop 08600 10111," he said.

"The identity of the deceased is still being withheld as some of her close relatives are yet to be officially informed about her murder."

Lady Frere police also investigating a similar case

Police in Lady Frere on Wednesday appealed to the public for assistance with information that can help them solve a case in which a 59-year-old woman was found murdered.

She had also gone to a traditional ceremony.

Butterworth SAPS Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu, has condemned the barbaric and senseless brutal murder of a woman, who could not defend herself.

He appealed to the villagers to end their traditional ceremonies at 17h00 to avoid crimes such as murder, rape and robbery.
