The Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Honourable Anroux Marais donated six chess tables to the George Library. She visited the library on Monday to do an official handover to the Executive Mayor of George, Alderman Charles Standers, and officials. Hon. Marais said chess is not only a sporting activity to pass time, but it also incorporates valuable life lessons. She said it teaches us to have a plan, make a move and take personal responsibility for that move. “Every move has a consequence”, she said.

Ms Rachel Williams: Manager: George Libraries, said chess has always been a game that could be found at libraries. “It helps with the relaxing goal of libraries and a constructive way to enjoy your time. The Minister rolled out the programme through 10 towns in the Western Cape and the broader Cape Town.
