Children discover three-day-old baby dumped in Kwadwesi bushes

Police in Port Elizabeth have appealed to the public for assistance with information that might help them find the mother of a three-day-old baby girl, who was found abandoned on Tuesday in bushes by two children, who were playing nearby in Kwadwesi Extension, Port Elizabeth. 

According to police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, "In the afternoon, two children were playing in the bushes and found a baby girl, who was partially covered in soil."

He said that police were alerted and the baby girl was taken to Dora Nginza Hospital "where he is recovering and cared for,"

Police have now appealed to anyone with information to assist in identifying the parents of the girl. 

"SAPS is making an appeal to the community of Kwadwesi to assist in the identification of the parents of the child," Captain Beetge. 

"Any person with information that could assist police in this matter should contact Kwadwesi SAPS at 041 405 4700 or 405 8512 or alternatively the Kwadwesi Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Singapphi Sijako at 082 302 5961."
