Chippa United captain relishes Coach Malesela’s return to the squad in full health

Chippa United Captain, Thamsanqa Sangweni, has emphasized that Head Coach Dan Malesela’s return in presence is extensively welcomed, after the Coach returned to full health following back pains and a heart condition scare.

He reiterated that Malesela’s presence accentuated the Chilli Boys to topple Witbank Spurs 1-0 in their last-32 Nedbank Cup clash last Wednesday at the NMB Stadium.

“He is huge for us and his presence meant a lot to everyone in the club,” Sangweni is quoted as saying on his club’s website. “He is back. He is 100% and we are all happy to have him back with the team,” Sangweni told KickOff.

Chippa have now advanced to the last-16 of the Nedbank Cup, where they will face fellow ABSA Premiership contenders, Polokwane City. Moving forward, Malesela returning to his coaching ranks, will surely add to the ethos of the club in achieving some foreseeable Nedbank Cup success.

Playing at home in that arising fixture, Sangweni hopes this will spur his side on even more.

“Polokwane City plays a similar brand of football to us. We have already met them this season and the two Clubs know each other well. We are home for this one though, and that in itself is an extra motivation,” Sangweni added.

Before such proceedings, Chippa’s next seasonal fixture will be against log-leading Cape Town City at the Cape Town Stadium on April 1st in a PSL match-up; as the Chilli Boys would look to sneak into the top eight on the overall standings.

Currently, Chippa are placed ninth with 23 points and Cape Town City first with 39 points.
