Chippa United opens store at The Boardwalk as they look to solidify squad

A Chippa United store is set to be launched at The Boardwalk on Friday, 13th January, where the squad and relevant officials will meet in the afternoon.

The unveiling of the store is rendered through a joint partnership with Canterbury since July 2016 and Chippa United boss, Siviwe Mpengesi, expressed his gratitude toward their support as the club’s technical sponsors.

“This is again a fantastic milestone for a growing brand like Chippa United, and we would like to thank our partners, Canterbury for being true to their word. Our supporters have been longing for an opportunity to walk into a shop and buy the club’s merchandise,” Mpengesi told KickOff .

“Our ambition as Chippa United Football Club is to be one of the most recognisable football brands in South Africa and beyond,” he added.

Meanwhile, as the club aims to grow as a brand in the Eastern Cape region, they are looking to solidify their squad with the signing Orlando Pirates midfielder, Thembinkosi Lorch, on a permanent deal arrangement.

The former South African Under-23 international winger has impressed Chippa this season and has only missed one of their 14 games in the 2016/17 season so far. He was originally only on loan to the Eastern Cape club for a season-long deal from the Buccaneers.

According to inside sources retrieved from Goal,Chippa are keen to sign Lorch on a permanent deal with the arrangement pending on a meeting with the Orlando Pirates over the signing of the player.

Lorch has so far scored three goals and provided a number of assists for the Chilli Boys this season.
