Coega SEZ well on its way to become Africa's new automotive hub

Construction is continuing in earnest in Zone 1 of the Coega SEZ BAIC site. The Coega SEZ is well on its way to cement its position as a new automotive hub on the continent as the only place where cumulatively over $1 billion USD Chinese automotive investment in located in just 1 square mile.

For the below: reasons why the automotive hub is set to record even greater successes.

  1. Home to two Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) namely: First Automotive Works (FAW) and Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co (BAIC) both from China having invested R1 billion and R11 billion respectively in 2012 and 2016 respectively
  2. Served by the Deepwater Port of Ngqura and Port Elizabeth Harbour with full linkages to Africa, Asia Pacific, North & South America & the EU

  4. Within a 30km and 25 minute radius from Isuzu (OEM); Volkswagen (OEM) and Ford (OEM) – all of whom produce for the domestic and export markets
