The Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court granted a couple a bail of R500 each, after the two appeared for possession of 211 mandrax tablets worth R10 550 on Monday.

"Zikhona Menze (31) and Monde Madlingozi (34) appeared at the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of mandrax," said police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli.

"Both the accused were granted bail of R500 each. Their case was remanded to Monday, 10 September 2018 for further investigation."

Sgt Nkohli said that the couple was arrested on Sunday, at around 10:35pm, by Jeffreys Bay SAPS after acting on information of a motor vehicle from a rental company, a Maroon Volkswagen Polo TSI with a Cape Town registration number from Port Elizabeth allegedly transporting mandrax tablets to Jeffreys Bay.

"Moments later, police spotted the vehicle fitting the same description at Nautilus Street, Jeffreys Bay and pulled it off the road.  Inside the vehicle, police found 211 mandrax tablets and arrested the two occupants."
