DA also launches motion of no confidence against Mongameli Bobani

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Nelson Mandela Bay on Wednesday afternoon announced that it has also launched a motion of no confidence against Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Executive Mayor, Mongameli Bobani.

"This follows allegations in the media that Bobani received hundreds of thousands of rands in an allegedly corrupt relationship with a Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality IPTS Service provider," the party said.

This follows after the African Christian Democratic Party’s (ACDP) and the Congress of the People (COPE) announced that they have submitted a Motion of Exigency for the removal Bobani, for debate on Friday.

Allegations are that Mayor Bobani apparently pocketed hundreds of thousands of Rands through an alleged corrupt relationship with a service provider on the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Integrated Public Transport System (IPTS).

Bobani has since been visited by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) also called the Hawks over the alleged suspect payments.

Bobani took reins after the removal of the Democratic Alliance (DA) -led coalition government following the dramatic events that took place on the 27th of August.

The DA in Nelson Mandela Bay had also on Monday announced that it will be tabling a no confidence motion against Bobani over the alleged corruption.

The DA said that financial mismanagement and the recent "infighting and implosion of the failing ANC in Nelson Mandela Bay will now have a direct financial impact on the residents and the economy".
