Investigations are underway after Port Elizabeth police found a massive stash of dagga in the bushes near Coega on Saturday night.

"This followed after SAPS Motherwell Cluster Operational Command Centre members received information and on the follow up, discovered 13 black bags of dagga in the bushes next to Coega Road," said police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge.

"The total weight was over 300 kilograms with an estimated street value of more than R600 000."

The Motherwell Cluster Commander, Major General Dawie Rabie applauded the find and added that "300 kilograms of dagga off the streets places a dent in the drug traffickers' operations and ensures a safer environment for our communities".
