Damaging winds, veld fire conditions and snowfalls expected in parts of the Eastern Cape

The South African Weather Service on Tuesday morning said that damaging winds, snow, veld fire and severe frost conditions are to be expected over parts of the Eastern Cape. 

"Damaging Winds - Gale force W winds of 35-40 knots (75-80km/h) are expected offshore between Plettenberg Bay spreading to Port Edward by midday and reaching onshore in places between Cape St Francis and Port Alfred in the morning," the weather office said.

"Light snowfalls can be expected over the Sneeuberg, Coetzeesberge and Winterberg peaks this morning."

Meanwhile, veld fire conditions are expected over the Dr Beyers Naude and Inxuba Yethemba Local Municipalities (Graaff-Reinet area and Cradock area). 

"Severe frost is expected in places in the northern interior of the Eastern Cape."
