Port Elizabeth courier company delivery van hijacked in Cleary Park, Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth - Gelvandale police detectives are investigating a case of hijacking and robbery after a 26-year-old complainant was  allegedly hijacked on Monday.

"It is alleged that, at approximately 10:40, a driver working for a courier company was at Cleary Park busy with deliveries when he was confronted by three suspects as he was off loading," said police spokesperson, Capt Sandra Janse Van Rensburg.

"One suspect pointed at him with a firearm and he was forced into the back of the bakkie."

She said that they took the keys to the vehicle and his two cellphones. 

Suspects are believed to have off-loaded stolen goods at Cleary Estate  

"They drove off with the bakkie and stopped at 3rd Avenue, in Cleary Estate, and offloaded the stock," Capt Janse Van Rensburg  said.

"Approximately 30 cellphones  to the value of R30 000 was taken.

"They drove off  in a white Ford Icon vehicle.   

"The complainant then drove to Gelvandale police station where he reported the incident. 

"The complainant was not injured during the incident, the investigation is still ongoing and no suspects arrested."
