Deputy Minister for Human Settlements, Zou Kota-Fredericks, to honours fallen women combatants in PE

AUGUST 27, 2014

As part of her Women’s Month commemoration programme, Human Settlements Deputy Minister, Zou Kota Fredericks, will be visiting the Nelson Mandela Bay on 30 August.

During the visit, she will deliver a key note address at the Nomkhosi Mini memorial lecture in Port Elizabeth.

Before the lecturer, the Deputy Minister, accompanied by Eastern Cape MEC for Human Settlements in Eastern Cape, Helen Sauls-August and the Deputy Executive Mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, Thando Ngcolombo, will lead a procession to the graves of the first MK soldiers to be killed by the apartheid government, including Nomkhosi Mini, at the Papenkuil cemetery for a wreath laying ceremony.

Nomkhosi ‘Mary’ Mini, the daughter of Vuyisile Mini, was shot dead by members of the notorious Vlakplaas death squad during a raid in Maseru on 19 December 1985.
