Despatch gain ascendency with victory over PE Harlequins, all Grand Challenge Rugby results

Despatch Rugby Club maintained some good form, with a 27-18 victory over PE Harlequins in their Grand Challenge match-up in Despatch on Saturday.

Two weekends ago, Despatch also edged Kruisfontein United 41-39 at home, as they look to ascend at the top part of the Grand Challenge standings.

Table-topping the log, Gardens Rugby Club, have now won 12 games from 12, but had their match against NMMU postponed over the weekend, due to the university recessing to holiday. Two weeks ago, Gardens enjoyed a 31-17 win over PE Police in Kemsley Park.

Runners-up on the overall Grand Challenge log and breathing down Gardens’ necks, Parks Rugby Club also had their match-up against the Grahamstown Brumbies postponed, due to player commitments to the famous Grahamstown Arts Festival.

Parks have only one loss to their name this season out of 12, that coming against PE Harlequins (40-33) in the first round of fixtures. Two weeks ago, they edged Star of Hope 31-26 in Londt Park.

Having now won three games on the trot, after an unconvincing first round; Progress beat the struggling PE Police 35-24 on Saturday. Two weeks ago they got the better of PE Harlequins at the Adcock Stadium 19-12.
