Drunk bakkie driver hits cow and kills teenage motorcyclist in Kirkwood
Kirkwood police are investigating a case of culpable homicide and drunk driving following a motor vehicle accident on R336 in Kirkwood that claimed a life of a 17-year-old motorcyclist and also killed a cow over the weekend.
"On Saturday, at around 7pm, it is believed that a beige Isuzu bakkie travelling on route R336, near the Sunday's River Citrus Company (SRCC), in Kirkwood struck a cow and then collided with an oncoming motorcycle," described police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli.
"Unfortunately, the motorcyclist and a cow died at the scene.
"The name of the deceased motorcyclist is 17-year-old Felix Meiring."
He said that the 27-year-old driver of the Isuzu bakkie was nabbed for drunk driving.
Sgt Nkohli added that he is due to appear in the Kirkwood Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on charges of culpable homicide and driving a motor vehicle under influence of alcohol.
