Duo expected in court after R420 000 dagga bust in Port St Johns

Two men, aged 29 years old, are expected in court soon after they were arrested over the weekend by Port St Johns police at Mgxabakazi Bridge transporting bags of dagga worth nearly half a million Rand.

"It is alleged that the members were patrolling in the area when they saw a white Toyota double-cab bakkie, which they stopped," explained police spokesperson, Capt Nozuko Handile.

"When they searched it, they found 32 bags of dagga.

"They also found a licenced firearm belonging to one of the suspects."

Dagga worth over R400 000 seized

She said that the street value of the dagga is R420 600.

"The suspects face charges of dealing and possession of dagga. The vehicle was also seized," Capt Handile said.

"Both suspects will appear in the local court soon."
