Dutywa man arrested following fatal knife fight

Dutywa police on Thursday swiftly arrested a 31-year-old man for alleged murder of a 35-year-old man following a knife fight over a matter that is not yet known to police.

"It is alleged that the men had a quarrel at about 20:00 at Zone 14 Squatter Camp, Dutywa," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"It is further alleged that the two men drew their knives and started to attack each other.

"Sadly, the 35-year-old man was fatally stabbed."

Captain Manatha said that dead man suffered upper body injuries.

"Dutywa Police were informed of the murder and they acted swiftly by tracing the suspec,  who was arrested not far from the crime scene," he added.

"The suspect has been charged with murder and will appear before the Dutywa Magistrate's Court on Monday on a murder charge.

"The motive behind the quarrel and murder is still not yet known."

He added that the identity of the deceased will be withheld until all his family members are officially informed of his murder.
