East London land invasion thwarted by Buffalo City Metro

The Buffalo City Municipality said that it responded to a land invasion incident that occurred on Friday and removed the illegal settlers from public land.

"Law Enforcement officers responded to land invasion at Sewe Design Loan, nearby Egoli, on Friday," the Metro said.

"A group of about sixty community members were found busy marking sites, the situation forced Law Enforcement Services management to go out to the area and one incomplete built structure was removed."

Land invaders warned to not build structures

The Metro said that officers warned the land invaders to vacate the area and that if they continue building structures they will be arrested for trespassing.

"Law enforcement officers with SAPS are monitoring the area until a case is registered."
