East London man arrested with illegal abalone, lobster and crab worth R100 000

East London - Cambridge police busted a man for the illegal possession of a huge amount of abalone, lobsters and crab.

"A crime intelligence driven operation resulted in the arrest of a 34-year-old man in a house at Vincent, East London," said police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi.

"Over 120kg of abalone, redlobsters, crabs and dotted fish were found stashed in freezers.

"The estimated street value is over R100 000."

Capt Mbi said that the man will appear before the East London Magistrate's court on soon facing charges of contravening the Living Marine Resources Act.
