East London police investigating after man found murdered in his home

Police in East London have launched investigations after the body of a 57-year-old man was found murdered in his Highland home, in MacLean, just outside East London on Saturday.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi, circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear.

“At this stage as nothing seems to be missing from the house,” said Captain Mbi.

He said that a case of murder was opened and is currently under investigation.

Police have appealed to local residents, who might have knowledge of what happened to come forward and assist in their investigation, as no one has been arrested yet.

Man shot by girlfriend's other boyfriend

In an unrelated incident, police are also investigating a case of murder after a man in his 20s was shot in the early hours Sunday, at NU11, Mdantsane, in East London. 

According to the police, it is believed that the victim went looking for his girlfriend where he found her with another man, who shot him in the upper body.

“The deceased died on the way to hospital,” said Captain Mbi.

He added that no arrest has been made yet in the case and that police are also appealing to anyone, who might have information that might assist the police in solving this murder to contact their nearest police station.

The investigation continues.
