Eastern Province Triathlon Champs this Saturday in Port Elizabeth

The Eastern Province Triathlon Championships, hosted by About IT, will take place this Saturday morning at Pollok Beach with three distances being contested for the Provincial honours.

The Super Sprint Distance race for the youth will comprise of a 300m swim, 10km cycle and 2.5km run; the Sprint Distance Triathlon being a 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run will be the EP Junior Championships whilst the Olympic distance of a 1500m swim, 40km cycle and 10km run will be for the Seniors.
Pre-race registration takes place at News Cafe Boardwalk on Friday at News Cafe Boardwalk between 5pm and 7pm. This meet and greet opportunity will also include some great lucky draw prizes and the last opportunity for late entries.
Racing in the Championships is open to all with only EPTA registered participants available for Provincial selection. The Youth race is open to participants between the ages of 12 – 15 years with the race starting at 7.15am on Saturday morning. The Sprint distance is open to all ages 16 years and older whilst the Olympic Distance is for all the senior age groups of participants 20 years and over.
About IT, sponsors of the popular Triathlon Summer Series which takes place during December had agreed to extend their sponsorship to include the EP Championships this year and will be supported by hydration partner, High 5, and support sponsors Caltex Eastern Cape, Dynamic Express Services, Oracle Media and the Kelston Motor Group.

Best spectator vantage point will be at the transition area on the grass behind the Summerstrand Surf Lifesaving Club with organisers having set a 4-lap run course for the Olympic distance race to ensure maximum spectator interaction with the participants.
All interested triathletes are urged to register online soonest through the Zsports Website (www.zsports.co.za) in order to prepare for Saturday.
