Eight local organisations to benefit from 2015 Toy Run

The ACVV Kamvalethu in Korsten; Missionvale Care Centre’s new school; Sebenza Embroidery (Despatch); Tand' Dusana in Newton Park; Walmer Angel Projects; Masimanyane Day care in Despatch; Piet Retief Primary in Sidwell and Care Ministry in Uitenhage were identified as the 2015 beneficiaries of Toy Run®.

Managing members of the Toy Run® committee nominate worthy beneficiaries annually and the selection is made after site visits and due diligence are conducted.

“The raising of funds to support the chosen charities would not be possible without the generous sponsors who contribute towards our raffle draw, the means through which we raise the majority of the funds that benefit the many children we reach out to. Equally important is the public who support our raffle ticket sales and the bikers who attend the annual Toy Run® mass ride event and donate toys on the day,” says Tony Halket, Chairman of the organising committee.

“Raffle tickets remain affordable at R5 each with a chance to win prizes to the value of R38 000. Our plea goes out to citizens of the Bay to support our selling points. It is evident that people in the Metro have a heart for children – it is evident in the event’s growth year after year.” adds Halket.

Raffle ticket sales to the public start from the beginning of October until 22nd November- every Saturday and Sunday 9am – 12pm at Pick n Pay Hypermarket, Pick n Pay Walker Drive (Saturdays) and Pick n Pay Penford in Uitenhage.

The main event is the bikers’ mass ride, starting at the Hunters Retreat Hotel, Kabega Park on Sunday 29 November to the iconic Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Tickets can be purchased up to and including the 29th November 2015.

This year’s prizes include:

1st Prize - 125cc Honda Elite, a helmet and gloves sponsored by Auto Motorcycles - value R21 000

2nd prize - R10 000 Pick n Pay Hypermarket voucher

3rd prize - Weekend for two adults and two children at Blanco Holiday Farm and Guest Resort.

Donations of toys can be dropped off at Klinicare Pharmacies.

The Port Elizabeth Toy Run® is a registered Non-Profit Organisation and dishes up its 24th edition this month.
