Elderly couple robbed and assaulted in their Colleen Glen home

Kabega Park detectives in Port Elizabeth are on the hunt for four suspects, who allegedly broke into a house in Colleen Glen and robbed and assaulted an elderly couple on Saturday night. 

"It is alleged that, at approximately 19:15, the couple both in their seventies were confronted by four suspects armed with a knife and a firearm, in their home in Colleen Glen, Port Elizabeth," said police spokesperson, Capt Sandra Janse Van Rensburg.

"It is further alleged that the suspects broke the fence surrounding the property and gained entrance at the front door.

"The complainant’s wife, 70-years-old heard something at the front door and on her way to the door the four suspects confronted them the complainant, 71 years old attempted to fight off the suspects, but they overpowered him and forced both of them into the bedroom and tied them up, while ransacking the house."

Suspects fled with firearms, cash and cellphones

She said that the suspects fled with cash, two firearms and cellphones. It is believed that the suspects fled on foot. 

"The complainant managed to untie himself and found another cellphone and contacted the neighbours."

Both victims received medical treatment on the scene. 

"A case of armed robbery is currently under investigation," said Capt Van Rensburg.
