Elliot police on the heels of armed suspects following business robbery

Police in Elliot have requested the assistance of the public with information that can lead to the arrest of suspects following an armed business robbery case.

"It is alleged that on Sunday, at about 11: 45, a shop owner was busy at his shop at Maclear road, Elliot when six unknown suspects entered the shop," described police spokesperson, W/O Moitheri Bojabotseha.

"Four of them were carrying firearms and assaulted the owner.

"Thereafter they demanded the keys to the safe and took an undisclosed amount of money, three cell phones, cigarettes and airtime before they fled the scene."

She added that the suspects also took a Isuzu bakkie FTG 914 EC belonging to the owner and fled the scene with it.

"The police are busy conducting a search in and around neighbouring town's such as Mthatha and Ngcobo areas," W/O Bojabotseha.

"The SAPS appeals to any one who can assist with positive information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the nearest police Station or contact the crime stop number on 08600 10111 or contact D/ Sgt Ngozi at cell 082 3025 53 60."
