Embrace your wild at 2017 SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees

Thousands of families and lovers of South African music will be embracing their wild at the 2017 SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees, which runs from Friday, June 30 to Sunday, July 2.

While the youngsters go wild in a special supervised children’s “four seasons of fun” festival area the rest of the family can shop till they drop at over 350 specialist stalls, thrill to the spectacle of “no limits” bike riders, take a wild ride in a car or learn how to make mouth-watering citrus dishes with chefs Francois Ferreira and Annelie Oosthuizen.

On Friday, Jun 30 festival goers can look forward to seeing seven top South African artists under the Karoo sky on the Adventure Province Main Stage. On Saturday there will be over 10 artists, and Sunday, five artists including the legendary PJ Powers and firm festival favourite Emo Adams.

Other headline artists for the weekend are Jack Parow and Theuns Jordaan on Friday, with Refentse and Kurt Darren on stage Saturday night.

Tickets are available from: Mafuta Padstal in Kirkwood; Westway Café in Cape Road, Port Elizabeth and BZN Stationers in Uitenhage.

Access to all the live entertainment on the main stage and most other entertainment zones and expos is included in the entrance fee.

Exciting young local talent ready to embrace their wild

Inspiring young dance group, The Believers will be embracing their wild at this year’s SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees taking place from Friday, June 30 to Sunday, July 2.

Fourteen years ago Believers manager Mark Gertse saw great need and, most importantly, wonderful talent in Kirkwood.

He says he is “a strong believer that the performing arts (music and dance) are one of the most powerful tools to give troubled youngsters a positive outlet, to channel their brokenness and emotions, to give them a positive voice and wings to rise above these great circumstances.”

The young and dynamic Hip Hop, Kwaito, and contemporary group of performers aged 15 to 25 will be performing in at the Vodacom Pavilion on Friday, June 30 at 13:00.

Giving back to the community is what the SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees strives to do, and giving local artists, companies and crafters a platform to grow and be noticed is exactly what the festival is all about says Wildsfees director Jenni Honsbein.
