Energy-efficiency solutions: You can’t manage what you can’t measure, says ITD Group

As energy costs continue to rise, businesses are under pressure to find cost-effective and energy-efficient solutions to maintaining rising expectations on safety, comfort and production environments in both offices and factories. This is where Port Elizabeth-based Company, ITD Air-conditioning; one of the ITD group of Companies, can provide specialised technical expertise and support to ensure credible and measurable results.

ITD Air-conditioning, one of its three divisions, has been operating since 2003 after the ITD Group bought the Port Elizabeth branch of Improvair Environmental Solutions (Pty) Ltd – giving it access to around 70 years of experience and expertise. It has grown to become a recognised leader in engineered environmental solutions in the province.

The division specialises in both Industrial and Commercial Air-Conditioning and are able to provide solutions in areas such as Fire Detection, Access Control, CCTV and Building Management Systems.

Thanks to a partnership with Johnson Controls, the company’s tailor-made HVAC solutions now include air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, central air-handling plant, single-package units and air-distribution systems.

The dealer partnership has also enabled them to provide support to clients needing assistance in reducing energy costs, by the installation of a purpose-designed Johnson Controls Building Management System, which is capable of providing real time operating data for each plant, using three dimensional live animated system graphics.

ITD Air-conditioning currently has an Energy Management Service Level Agreement with the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), where they manage the energy consumption, via monthly monitoring and reports, as well as maximum demand (KVA) control, across the university’s five campuses.

“We work with our clients to select the correct program for them, decide on the pace they’d like to set, and then partner with them to achieve their efficiency and sustainability objectives,” says the company.

Besides the NMMU, the Company’s other major HVAC clients over the past five years have included major players in the Eastern Cape’s pharmaceutical and food industry where it completed projects at Aspen Pharmacare; Livingstone Hospital; Mondelez; Coega Development Corporation; First National Bank Cape Road; Volkswagen SA; as well as at Nestle Pretoria.
