eNtsa hosting ASME VIII Course with international body, the ASME

During the month of March, eNtsa, in conjunction with American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), will be hosting a CPD accredited three-day ASME VIII Course from 28 to 30 March 2017 in Johannesburg.

eNtsa is internationally recognized as a hub of innovation. The unit is based at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) in Port Elizabeth with strong strategic relations with the Technology Innovation Agency and the Department of Science and Technology.

The unit continuously strives to enhance technology innovation and to stimulate a climate of sustainable socio-economic growth in South Africa.

Furthermore, eNtsa’s ambition is aligned with the NMMU’s Vision & Mission, aiming towards providing an environment generating cutting-edge knowledge and providing a platform for diverse educational opportunities to constructively contribute to a sustainable future, globally.

ASME regulates the design and construction of boilers and pressure vessels, Section VIII focuses on pressure vessels operating at internal or external pressures exceeding 100 kPa.

In addition, ASME is a not-for-profit membership organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing, career enrichment, and skills development across all engineering disciplines, toward a goal of helping the global engineering community develop solutions to benefit lives and livelihoods.

Founded in 1880, by a small group of leading industrialists, ASME has grown through the decades to include more than 130,000 members in 151 countries. Thirty-two thousand of these members are students.

The course presenter, John Swezy, is an expert in his field. He has been part of ASME since 1996.

Swezy has more than 20 years of experience as a National Board Commissioned Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector, Inspector Supervisor and Codes and Standards Technical Specialist.

He has an impressive professional record of accomplishment, ample experience and invaluable knowledge about the Boiler and Pressure Vessels Codes.
