Expectations exceeded: Comfort, cosiness and peace come together at Keiskama B&B

Situated just a few minutes’ walk from Port Elizabeth’s top beachfront tourist attractions and within a short drive from the airport and CBD, Keiskama B&B is ideal for travelling executives.

Keiskama B&B, which is four star graded and situated in the upmarket suburb of Summerstrand, offers a tranquil and relaxing conclusion to any busy day of meetings and conferences.

Having seen Keiskama’s website, I jumped at the opportunity to review this bed and breakfast.  On arrival, I was greeted with a smile by owner, Charmaine McCance, who escorted me to one of their four modern and stylish suites.

My room was individually-decorated in a Thai theme - the others being Oxford, Beach and Manhattan subjects.  The rooms are clearly designed for comfort and functionality and I took an immediate liking to the king-sized bed and the flat-screen television. There are also selected DSTV channels, an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower, a roof-mounted fan and air-conditioning, microwave, cutlery and crockery, a mini-fridge and free Wi-Fi.

After unpacking, I was given a brief tour of Keiskama’s other accommodation offerings by Charmaine’s assistant. I found that every room enjoys a garden view and has a private entrance. Complimentary coffee and tea facilities are available in each room. A laundry service is also available at a small additional charge.

The garden is neat and spacious with a communal braai area and swimming pool, both available for guest’s utilisation and relaxation. I can see why Keiskama is popular with the business community. Secure parking also ensures peace of mind.

After a good night’s rest between crisp white sheets, I indulged in a homemade a la carte breakfast of scrambled eggs, two slices of toast, bacon, hashbrowns and a cup of Rooibos. Guests are requested to select their breakfast option from an extensive menu provided upon check-in. Alternatively, when the establishment is fully booked, a buffet breakfast is offered.

Dinners are available on request and, if they are anything like the breakfasts, they must be delicious and wholesome.

I can highly recommend Keiskama B&B for comfort and convenience.
