Fat Cats Catering offer a perfect mix of passion and experience

A passion for food

The fact that Fat Cats Catering have been in business for 25 years says a lot. I am a firm believer that no company will survive more than a few months if the owners have no passion for their trade.

To prove my point, Grace du Preez, the owner of Fat Cats catering says, “What a Blessing it is to work with the beautiful ingredients nature has to offer. The alchemy of herbs, spices, flowers, fruits and vegetables put together to enchant our clients is our blessing! Our imagination is allowed to take flight daily, for which we are most grateful!”

Catering seems such an unemotional word and belies what Fat Cats can really do.

Their platters and meals aren’t simply food for the masses, they are works of art. Meals are not just served but are presented with pride. Each mouth full does not just satisfy an empty tummy, it tantalises the taste buds.

I’m a foodie and want my meal to be an experience not a function and Fat Cats have always given me the satisfaction that I have expected.

Why choose Fat Cats Catering?

“We offer a bespoke full catering service specializing in corporate, civil and domestic events as well as destination weddings,” says Grace.

Fat Cats Catering can serve from 2 to 2000 guests. The largest event for which they have catered was when the US Army spent two weeks in Port Elizabeth on a military exercise and personnel had to be fed three meals a day to the exacting standards required.

Grace adds, “The success of our modern, contemporary menu depends on a delicate balance of popular choices, combined with our own special flavours and creative flair, which allows us to expand our boundaries.”

I asked Grace what was their most prestigious catering event and she replied that it was a posthumous birthday celebration for Tata Nelson Mandela himself at his hometown of Qunu, just outside Umtata.

Meeting the exacting demands and high standards of any client is part of the day to day operation of Fat Cats Catering and they will travel all over the Eastern Cape provide their service.

“Our professional, passionate team will individualize and present a menu to enhance your special event and make it memorable for both the great food and the ease with which we interact with your schedule,” concludes Grace.
