Finalists announced for Senior Citizen of the Year

The finalists for the prestigious Senior Citizen of the Year (SCOTY) Awards, which celebrates its fifth year running, have been decided.

October is the month of the elderly and every year the SCOTY Awards are held during this month in commemoration. 

SCOTY is run by the Golden Oldies fund raising club, with winners announced in three age categories - 70-79 years, 80-89 years, 90 and over, with special mentions in the 100 over age group. There is also a prize for the overall winner.

The finalists in each category are:

70 – 79 years

  • Isabella Mabengeza
  • Charles Jantjies
  • Lynn Crothall

80 – 89 years

  • Dawn Wait
  • Les Barnes
  • Ellen de Meillon

They will also be recognising three Senior Citizens, aged: 100, 103 and 113

The Gala Luncheon will be taking place on the 21st of October at the Kiplings Restaurant in The Boardwalk Hotel from 2pm.
