Find comfort, convenience and service at 17 on 5th Avenue Guesthouse

Finding suitable accommodation for seasoned and well-travelled businessmen and woman can be difficult. Convenience, comfort, service and security are all important.

Port Elizabeth has a number of accommodation offerings that are tailored to the needs of the travelling executive and 17 on 5th Avenue Guesthouse, situated in Walmer, is one of the better options available.

This 4-Star boutique establishment has eight comfortable rooms available, each uniquely decorated and luxuriously equipped.

I stayed in a beautifully decorated cottage, which was equipped with a large king-sized bed with crisp white linen, a flat screen television with selected DSTV channels, a mini fridge, and en-suite bathroom with a shower and bath, coffee/tea making facilities, a desk and some comfortable couches. Just what anyone needs after a long day of business meetings!

There is also a Boma area with a braai and comfortable seating, as well as a pool for those hot summer evenings.

The security and privacy impressed me.  As a single woman on a business trip I will only stay in a place where I know that I will be comfortably secure.  The parking area is well lit at night and my room had its own entrance and the windows had both curtains and venetian blinds.

The room had obviously been refurbished recently and I loved the free flowing rain shower rose and the white light produced by the LED lighting.

Walmer has a number of great restaurants nearby and after a delicious dinner, I returned to the guest house with a full stomach and jumped into that huge bed; got my laptop out and checked a few emails – thanks to their free Wi-Fi. Done, I switched on the TV for some news and entertainment and slowly drifted to sleep.

The next morning, I woke up refreshed and headed to their lovely dining area, where breakfast is served between 7am and 9am every morning, and what a treat it was! Fresh fruit and yoghurt, warm croissants, orange juice and hot coffee awaited me at my table.

Lee, the other owner and chef, makes a delicious full English breakfast with perfectly prepared bacon and eggs, and there is a variety of cereals to choose from. Just what one needs to start the day right.

Sadly, I had to check out that same morning, but after determining 17 on 5th Avenue Guesthouse as a perfect base for anyone travelling to PE for business. Call 041 581 7822 or visit www.17on5thavenue.co.za for more information.
