Fingerprint evidence leads to discovery of Patensie robbery suspect

Police detectives nabbed a burglary suspect and recovered a stolen firearm after fingerprint evidence linked a suspect to a scene of crime in Patensie that took place five months ago.

On Friday, police detectives interviewed a Patensie man after his fingerprints were found at the scene of housebreaking and theft at a farm in Andrieskraal area, Patensie, where a firearm was stolen on Saturday, 6 January 2018.

The suspect led the police to an area, where he hid a firearm. At the scene, police seized a Unique pistol with no ammunition and also arrested the suspect.

A 32-year-old man is due to appear in the Hankey Magistrate's Court on Monday, 25 June on charges of housebreaking and theft and possession of unlicensed firearm.
