Five in court for public violence during Alice service delivery protest

Alice - Five people arrested for public violence in Alice will appear in the local magistrate's court on Wednesday.

"Five suspects, three women and two men aged between 23-55 were arrested on Tuesday and charged for public violence at Alice," said police spoksperson, Khaya Tonjeni.

"This followed after the community embarked on a protest for water outage.

"The five are expected to appear at Alice Magistrate's Court."

Capt Tonjeni said that police have also facilitated a meeting between the community and local authorities to find amicable ways to solve the impasse.
