Fleet Dynamics Group now geared to better serve Volvo truckers in Border-Kei area

Fleet Dynamics Group, a leading truck sales and repair company with dealerships spanning the breadth of the Eastern Cape, recently unveiled its upgraded Volvo Trucks Dealership in East London.

“We were in fact one of the first four privately-owned Volvo Truck Dealerships in the county after our appointment in 2014,” James Moore, serial entrepreneur and the owner of Fleet Dynamics Group, told Business Link.

“Volvo was looking to expand their footprint to improve ‘up’ time for customers and, thus approached us, through our established track record as a UD Trucks Dealership, to represent them in the Border-Kei region. We initially decided to come in ‘under the radar’ and first hone our skills, stock and facilities before putting on the Volvo spotlight.”

Moore said that they have now completed a significant premises upgrade designed by a Volvo and UD Trucks-appointed architectural firm.  They have now more than doubled the site size; added an entirely new modern office building; reshaped the workshop – including drive-through service bays; have gone double-volume on parts stores; installed full perimeter electric steel fencing with 24-hour access control to ensure the safety of staff and customers.

“We have expanded our team to include nine highly-qualified technicians – which is a rare concentration of skill under one roof in the Eastern Cape Commercial Vehicle space.

“Stock holding has been optimised and technicians have access to four Diagnostics PCs and a new Dedicated Volvo/UD Roadside Assistance bakkie has been purchased to compliment the rest of our group’s support vehicles,” he described.

The Volvo Trucks Dealership covers a vast geographical region, from Port Alfred up to Kokstad as well as Ugie and Queenstown - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Asked about why the division was based in East London, Moore said that Volvo needed support in the Border-Kei region for their long haul trucking customers.

“East London is on the key N2 Coastal route and the area represents a large geographical area throughout, which Volvo Trucks customers need to be supported,” he explained.

“Furthermore, the local economy is generally a trading economy and thus is less sensitive to global economic and political shocks, which is good to have in your group fold in these volatile times.

“East London and Border Kei region is also relatively under developed in terms of potential, which in my positive outlook equates to high longer term growth and by implication, a rapidly accelerating consumerism over the next 10 years.”

Moore said that Fleet Dynamics Group also already enjoyed a very strong presence in Port Elizabeth and needed to increase “critical mass in our East London operation”.
