Four arrested near Swartkops for possession of stolen goods after house robbery

Four suspects are expected in court on Wednesday after they were arrested after a vehicle that was used in a house robbery was spotted and searched in Old Grahamstown Road, Swartkops, Port Elizabeth.

"This follows after a house robbery took place in Tshangana Street, New Brighton, on Sunday, at 18:30.

"A 40-year-old lady was in her home when four suspects entered, one with a fire arm, and robbed her of a plasma TV and cellphone," said police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge.

"The suspects used a white Ford Laser in the robbery."

At about 01:00 on Monday morning, Motherwell Cluster Highway Patrol spotted and searched this vehicle in Old Grahamstown Road, Swartkops.

"Four suspects, a 23-year-old female and three males, aged 28, 29 and 31 years old, were arrested after finding the plasma TV and cellphone in the vehicle," he said.

"They will be appearing before the Motherwell Magistrates Court on Wednesday on charges of possession of stolen goods."

The Motherwell Cluster Commander, Major General Dawie Rabie, added that "we will do follow up investigations to determine if these were also the same suspects involved in the house robbery."
