Four expected in Stutterheim court for stock theft

The efficient utilisation of resources in support of the investigation of crime yielded good results when the Stutterheim Stock Theft Unit arrested four suspects in possession of a carcass at Toise Village, Stutterheim.

"Police followed up the information they received and managed to recover carcass at about 03h00," said police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa.

"Four suspects were immediately arrested and charged for Stock Theft."

Meanwhile, police officers proceeded to Peddie where they recovered five stolen cattle at Nqwenerhana Location outside Peddie.

She said that these cattle were stolen at Cwecweni Location, which falls under the Punzana Police Station, at the beginning of this month.

"They were handed over to the lawful owner by police. No suspect has been arrested on the recovery."

Alleged stock thieves expected in Stutterheim court

The suspects will appear at the Stutterheim Magistrate's Court on Monday.

King Williams Town SAPS Cluster Commander, Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga, commended the members in curbing stock theft in the cluster.

He encouraged them to remain focused when patrolling the policing precinct to stop the theft of stock in its tracks.

"Our members must not rest until these stock theft are solved and suspects involved arrested, we will intensify our operations in rural areas and farms in curbing stock theft," he added.
