Four, including woman, in court in separate cases of dagga possession

Four people, including a woman, are expected in court in Butterworth on Wednesday to face two separate cases of allegedly dealing in dagga.

This is after Msobomvu police arrested three men, aged 21, 26 and 28, for possession of dagga on Monday morning.

"The 21-year-old suspect was found with dagga that has weight of ,27gram; the 26-year-old suspect was found with dagga that has weight of 1,822 kg with a street value of R2 000 and the 28 year old suspect was found with dagga that has weight of 1,247kg with a street value of R1 500," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"The three were arrested at Booi Farm, Butterworth. The suspects will appear before the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Wednesday 22 March 2017 on charges of possession of dagga."

Meanwhile, Msobomvu police also arrested a 34-year-old woman for possession and dealing in dagga on Monday afternoon. She was arrested at Zitulele Township, Butterworth.

"The dagga has weight of 1,681 kg with a street value of R2000.

"Police acted on intelligence that the suspect was dealing in dagga and was in possession of dagga," saiid Captain Manatha.

"The suspect will appear before the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Wednesday on charges of dealing in dagga and possession of dagga."
