Detectives used their resources well and apprehended an 18-year-old suspect, who was wanted on a case of murder, which was perpetrated in Philippi East on 11 January this year.

"The suspect, Lunga Boyce, who was on the run from police, was arrested in Queenstown on Thursday and is in detention until he is expected to make a court appearance in Queenstown on Monday," said police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut.

"Following his initial court appearance, he will be transported to the Western Cape to face the charge against him locally."

The Western Cape Provincial Detectives on Tuesday had again appealed to the public for assistance in tracing Boyce.

It is alleged that at around 17:30, on the 11th of January,  a 30-year-old man was shot and killed in Nondlwane Street, Lower Crossroads, Philippi East.

"Investigations into the circumstances of the murder identified Boyce as a possible suspect and a warrant for his arrest was issued," said Lieutenant Colonel Traut.

Police suspected that he was either hiding in the Western Cape or Eastern Cape.
