"At about 11:20 on Tuesday, a police vehicle was travelling towards the N2 on-ramp from R62 (from Kareedouw towards Humansdorp) transporting prisoners from Joubertina to St Albans prison," described Captain Swart.

"At the N2 turnoff on the R62 (Trivolia), a truck was driving in front of the police vehicle, while the vehicle reduced speed and in motion two prisoners escaped through the back window of the SAPS vehicle."
