Gamble dominate Night Series

Despite the wet conditions and driving rain on Tuesday night, the Gamble Pharmacy Men's team ran in a another convincing victory in the second round of the Town Lodge Business Night Relay at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Strengthened by the return of Mariano Esau who recently returned from the World Student Games in Korea, the young team finished the 17.5km race in just under 1 hour with their mixed team breaking the course record for their category with an equally impressive 1 hour 2 minutes.

"Whilst very wet, the evening was rather pleasant as there was no wind and it wasn't too cold, " said race organiser Mike Zoetmulder of Zsports.

"Those teams that did attend certainly appeared to be having fun and the enjoyed the unique course which this event offers and the great hospitality of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium."

In the 5-person Men's category, SPAR Eastern Cape 1 placed second some 8 minutes behind Gamble Pharmacy whilst the Sage VIP team finished in 3rd place.

In the Women's running category it was a very vibrant team from Moore Stephens who took the line honours from Herbert Hurd whilst the SPAR Eastern Cape 2 and PW Harvey mixed teams filled the podium on he evening behind the Gamble Pharmacy team.

In the 3-person walking category it was the untouchable team from Bluewater Bay who romped home in a super fast time of 1 hour 4 minutes with Town Lodge Chefy Walkers and The Courtyard Crusaders placing 2nd and 3rd respectively.
