GARDEN ROUTE CENTRAL: The Lofts Boutique Hotel offers excellent business accommodation

No doubt, the Garden Route’s economy is substantial, although not large enough for most national companies to set up regional offices in the area. Traveling business executives often then have to find a base in towns like Knysna where The Lofts Boutique Hotel, which offers 4-star short and long term accommodation, is located.

The hotel, which is situated on Thesen Island and within immediate reach of Knysna’s CBD, is well-suited for every business traveller to the Garden Route.

Your correspondent found The Lofts very convenient, but that is not the main reason I would choose to stay here. Perhaps it was the setting - Thesen Island is an award-winning development; or its proximity to the Knysna Lagoon; or perhaps its unusual design and layout – it was built from a converted boatshed.

One thing is certain; the rooms, particularly the Lagoon Suites are amazing, spacious, luxurious and elegant with balconies that open onto the lagoon and allowing light and fresh ocean air to pour in.

I found the design of the hotel original and unique. The building, which was originally a large boatshed, is elaborately decorated in locally-crafted and comfortable design elements.

The Lofts’ spacious bedrooms are very comfortable with big beds, crisp linen, earthy colours, comfortable chairs and select DSTV entertainment. Their self-catering rooms are also very spacious with a fully-equipped kitchen.

Each room comes with a well-stocked honesty bar and a coffee/tea station. More luxuries include air-conditioning, a digital electronic safe, under-floor heating, heated towel rails, hair-dryers, telephone and Wi-Fi internet access.

The hotel does not serve its own meals but has a meal voucher facility. These vouchers can be redeemed at any of the three upmarket restaurants which are within walking distance. One of these is Ile de Pain which, arguably, is one of South Africa’s best eateries.

The Lofts also has an air-conditioned conference room with state-of-the-art equipment. It offers two layout options and caters for between six and 45 delegates.

Recreation can be arranged by the hotel including bikes for cycling and canoes. There is also ample, safe off-street parking for vehicles.

After a hard day’s driving in the Garden Route, I always look forward to an evening of total relaxation at The Lofts Boutique Hotel. To make a reservation, call them on 044 302 5710 or email [email protected] or visit them online atwww.knysnahotel.co.za.
