Gardens host EL Police in EC Super 12 Club Rugby Tournament Final

Over much deliberation and court proceedings over Springrose fielding an ineligible player (Sesona Macala) in week one of the EC Super 12 Tournament, the EC Sports Federation and tournament sponsors, DSRAC unruled the dispute – meaning the tournament’s logs and points’ accumulation to each club went unchanged.

Macala was deemed to have been registered fairly and legally, with no binding commitments to any other club, and therefore Springrose as a rugby entity partook in no injustice and was still to host the one semi-final at the New Brighton Oval, which took place last Saturday.

Springrose topped their Group A unbeaten, with Progress topping Group B also unbeaten, and last weekend saw both clubs hosting the two semi-finals respectively. Springrose played host to meet EL Police, while Progress hosted Gardens at the Central Sports Ground in Uitenhage.

Ironically, both home sides lost their first games of the season each respectively, with Springrose losing 32-30 to EL Police after conceding three tries in the last 10 minutes and Progress going down 21-20 to Gardens.

Gardens will now host the Final against EL Police at the Central Sports Grounds in Uitenhage, on Saturday 25th of March at 15:30 with some curtain-raisers seeing Kwaru play the Penquins (13:00) and Progress play Springrose (11:30) in the third/fourth play-off.
