Good rains recorded across Eastern and Southern Cape - including Bay's catchment areas

Finally, some good news for the drought-stricken Nelson Mandela Bay. According to the Port Elizabeth office of the South African Weather Service, some good rains were recorded in the Bay's catchment areas over the weekend.

According to Garth Sampson, Client Liaison Officer - Eastern Cape, 42.2mm was measured in Patensie while Kareedouw received 40mm of rain; Joubertina 32.2mm and Kouga dam 30mm.

Elsewhere, 49.6mm of rain was recorded in Swartkops, Port Elizabeth, while 44.4mm was recorded at Riverstone Bridge and 40.8mm at the Port Elizabeth Airport station.

It is understood that more rain is expected this weekend.
