Good rains recorded in Port Elizabeth, Kareedouw, Plett and Mossel Bay overnight

Update: Lorraine Port Elizabeth recorded 25 mm and 3rd Avenue dip in Newton Park has had some flooding as well.

Plettenberg Bay, Mossel Bay and the Langkloof catchment area, that includes Kareedouw, seem to have received some good rains overnight. Figures were not immediately available for all Port Elizabeth suburbs, but the weather office said that there were some heavy falls in places in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.

According to the Port Elizabeth office of the South African Weather Service, 13mm of rain fell in Kareedouw while rain measuring 11mm fell in Plett.

"Although nothing major, the Langkloof (catchment) had some welcome rain with between 5 and 13 mm," described Garth Sampson, Client Liaison Officer for the Eastern Cape at the South African Weather Service.  

"The rain should be over by lunchtime."
