Good rains recorded overnight, residents still urged to save water

Port Elizabeth - Although the Port Elizabeth Airport only received 15.6mm, other areas of the city received above 25mm of rain overnight, the Port Elizabeth office of the South African Weather Service said on Monday.

"Over the city’s main catchment area between 13 and 30mm was measured," said Garth Sampson, the SA Weather Service's Client Liaison Officer for the Eastern Cape.

"Other noteworthy figures were Plettenberg Bay at 34.6mm and George at 29.4mm.

"The drought ravaged area of Graaf Reinett only had 6.2mm and areas around Adelaide had 8mm."

Sampson still said that the public must continue to use water sparingly as the forecast is for below normal rainfall up to December.
