Grahamstown man busted with firearm stolen from Peddie police station

A 26-year-old man is expected to appear before the Grahamstown Magistrate's Court this week after he was arrested on Sunday for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Vukani Location, Grahamstown.

According to police spokespersons, Captain Mali Govender, Members of the Grahamstown Operation Coordinated Committee (OCC) team followed up on information received on Saturday evening and went to a house in Vukani Location in Grahamstown.

“They found the male suspect inside the house, during the search operation, they found a Lorcin Walter 7.65 with an identifiable serial number and 13 rounds of ammunition,” said Captain Govender.

She added that during further investigation, it was established that the firearm was stolen from Peddie police station in March 2017.

The 26-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
