Grey High cricket derby results against Paul Roos

In a declaration match-up, Grey High 1st XI cricket faced Paul Roos 1st XI in Stellenbosch on Friday, 20th January, as each school aimed to stake claim as their respective province’s mainstream representation.

Paul Roos batted first and projected a total of 219/9 declared with Jose Smith (3/16) and Tiaan van Vuuren (2/31) being most effective with the ball for Grey High.

Van Vuuren, too, then managed to face 67 deliveries to force a draw, as Grey High looked to buckle in their unadmiring total of 114/9 declared.

In the U15A showdown between the two schools, the result also succumbed to a draw as Paul Roos scored 196/9 declared, with the Grey Colts ‘A’ projecting 100/7. For Grey High, Arend Visser achieved bowling figures of 2/3, with the same player contributing the most with the bat as he scored 30. Mike Wicks was second-up with his score of 24.

Grey High, however, managed to uproot Paul Roos in the U14A showpiece, with the PE side batting first and heeding a score of 222 all out, before bowling Paul Roos out for 117.

James Hofmeyr (56) and George van Niekerk (48) contributed most significantly in Grey’s scoring ascendency – with bowlers, Joshua Stephenson (4/25) and Divan Moss (3/28) striking the blow to prevent Paul Roos from making any significant scoring headway.
