Hawks seize R1 million dagga consignment passing through Eastern Cape
Two male suspects, aged 38 and 42, are expected in court after they were busted in multidisciplinary operation between several units of the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu Natal Hawks on Sunday transporting dagga worth around R1 million.
"Information was received about four vehicles that would be travelling through the Eastern Cape to Western Cape transporting dagga," said police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender.
"At about 20:00, a Toyota Quantum pulling trailer was stopped in Molteno.
"Upon inspection, it was discovered that the trailer was filled to the brim with 34 large compressed bags and six ziplock bags containing dagga were found in the vehicle."

She said that the value of the dagga is estimated to be approximately R1 million.
Eastern Cape SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga, applauded the team for their comradeship displayed during the operation.
"Your fellowship and high moral standing is commendable. Through your dedication in solidarity towards a common goal you have reaped the desired results," said Lt Gen Ntshinga.
Capt Govender said that the suspects will appear in the local magistrate's court early this week.
