Help Despatch police identify man hit by passenger train

Despatch - Despatch police are asking for the public's help with identifying a pedestrian that was hit by a train in Despatch on Saturday morning.

"On Saturday, at around 7:30am, police were summnoned to an accident scene involving a train and a pedestrian in Holland Street, Despatch," said police spokesperson, Sergeant Majola Nkohli.

"At scene, police found a lifeless body of a man approximately in his late twenties, wearing a black jacket, a pair of blue jeans and a pair of green sneakers.

"It is said that the unknown man was walking on the railway lines when he was hit by a passenger train that was travelling from Uitenhage towards Port Elizabeth.

"Police are urging anyone, who could assist in identifying the deceased to contact the Despatch police at 041 933 8831."
