Help keep someone warm this winter

News Cafe at The Boardwalk is giving away free cappuccinos to caring people who want to help keep the less fortunate warm this winter. Through its News Cafe #Coffee4blankets campaign, News Cafe is collecting blankets for the non-profit organization Love Story which will distribute much-needed blankets to homeless people in Port Elizabeth.

The community is urged to support the cause by donating blankets before the 30th of June 2015. People participating in the cause will receive a complimentary cappuccino at News Cafe for every blanket they donate.

“We encourage the community to support this extremely worthwhile cause. With winter approaching, there will be hundreds of people on the streets without so much as a blanket to ward off the cold. By participating in the campaign, you can help make winter more bearable for them. Your goodwill comes with a reward; a delicious hot cappuccino at News Cafe,” urges Sandy Zoetmulder, Operational Owner at News Cafe The Boardwalk.

Love Story, established in October 2012 by EP Kings Captain, Luke Watson and his wife, Elaine, continually seeks to uplift the local community through various programmes focused on alleviating hunger, skills development and early childhood development.

Love Story’s Feeding Schemes currently support about 250 families in crisis every week with grocery parcels, as well as 15 soup kitchens for the homeless across the region. The organization also sponsors and prepares over 1 000 sandwiches every week for hungry children in local schools, and serves between 100 and 200 homeless men, women and children five nights a week in Central. All together this comes to approximately 50 000 meals per month served to the hungry.
