Heritage Day is celebrated in Thembalethu

The Youth and Gender/Disability Sections at the Community Services Directorate celebrated Heritage Day on the 24th of September with different elderly clubs and young people at the Thembalethu Thusong Centre.

The Portfolio Councillor for Community and Library Services, Alderman Mercia Draghoender and officials from the sections celebrated the day with all the participants. Draghoender also delivered the keynote address. Alderman Draghoender encouraged all the participants to celebrate their cultures and beliefs, but also to respect the cultures and beliefs of other South Africans.

She motivated the youth to continue respecting the elderly, and to build on the good legacy that they have left. The clubs for the elderly which participated were Masizakhe Service Club, Sunshine Old Aged Club, Winnie Madikizela Mandela Old Aged Club, Golden Oldies, Rosemoore Old Aged Club, Pacaltsdorp Service Club, Lawaaikamp Old Aged Club and Sonskynhoekie.
